***Excerpts from an Email Distributed on Behalf of Hillsborough Twp. Sunnymead Landfill Redevelopment***

The Mayor and Township Committee on Tuesday 22 September, authorized the marketing of the Sunnymead Landfill for Redevelopment. This covered, former municipal landfill of 10.71 acres has 10.17 acres of usable contiguous acreage, and is 1,600 feet deep by 352 feet wide at the rear property line. The site particulars can be found at the ftp site (file transfer protocol) cited below, since the aerial photographs are too large to be accommodated by direct email transmission.

You have previously expressed an interest in the Redevelopment of this site, and the Township is now actively engaged in the process of inviting interested parties to submit responses to their SOI – Statement of Interest – notice.

As indicated on the flier, the deadline for submission is NOON, Friday 23 October 2009 to Bruce Rydel at 732.727.8000 ext. 243 or brydel@cmeusa1.com (see additional contact information shown below).

In addition to the above, here are suggested guidelines on how to respond to the SIO.

Since this is an SOI rather than an RFP, as I indicated to the Governing Body Tuesday night, this process is less formal (less restrictive legally), and that the SOI process is more conversational. Other than for respondents to follow the basic outline on the reverse side of the flier ( they are to supply a Cover Letter, Proposed Redevelopment Concept, etc., etc., ), additional information they wish to share can only help distinguish them from the crowd to make their case. The bottom line – cost benefit to the Township – will certainly be important, but so too will be how real their concept is (proven track record, examples of their concept constructed by them elsewhere and the benefit to that community, … even their financial ability to succeed).
