Requirements for Burglar & Fire Alarm Registrations; and Use Permits

For the protection of your business, all fire and burglar alarms need to be registered at the Township Clerk's office. Please see Dianne Bornegesser who has the forms that need to be filled out. This information is then given to the Police Department for their records. There is a $25.00 fee for both commercial burglar and fire alarms; and a $10.00 fee for residential burglar and fire alarms.

Any new business in Hillsborough needs to obtain a Use Permit from the Zoning Department. This is the only way that the Township has of maintaining a record of the businesses in the municipality. This includes both rental and owned businesses and whether it is in a brand new building or a existing one. If a business is sold, the new owner needs to obtain a permit for Same Business/New Owner. If the business owner changes the type or scope of his business, this requires a Same Owner/New Business permit. If a new tenant or owner leases or acquires a property and then starts a different type of business than what was there before, this requires a New Owner/New Business permit. All these permits have a $50.00 fee. The forms and fees can by obtained from and paid to Marge in the Zoning Department. All tenants need to have their landlords sign off on the forms.
